Particulate matter, smoke or soot, T415131 sensor for use in the DPF (diesel particulate filter) or clean emissions modules in Tier 4, Stage IIIb / IV engine. Monitors the level of particulates in the exhaust gases to detect failure of the DPF, enabling the accurate estimate of soot mass for regeneration. Too frequent regeneration can cause unnecessary fuel consumption, and rapid system wear out, while infrequent regeneration may lead to high heat during regeneration, DPF deterioration, and even failure.
